I’ve read a few threads on the process of making multicolor designs with OpenScad (for example this thread). The process makes sense (create multiple objects, import them all together, and color each object separately).
My question is how does this work with the MakerWorld Customize option when you upload a .scad file? I have seen multiple existing designs that allow for customization and when the 3mf is downloaded, the objects are colored correctly. Is that integration between the scad file and the 3mf file automatic, or do we have to do something special when we upload the file? For example, if during customization a new object is added, how is the color specified in the 3mf file when the user clicks download?
